Moti Mahal, situated west of Iqbal Maidan in Bhopal, is a significant heritage structure that offers a glimpse into the city's royal past. Constructed by Nawab Qudisiya Begum in the early 19th century, this two-story building served as the first 'darbar' hall (royal court) of the province. The palace's architecture is a blend of Indian and European styles, with European coatings on its terrace boundaries. The building features beautiful archways on all three levels. Over the years, Moti Mahal has been a silent witness to the changing fortunes of Bhopal, serving various purposes.Currently, there are plans to establish a Bhopal City Museum within Moti Mahal, which will feature 11 galleries dedicated to the history of Bhopal and Madhya Pradesh. The museum will showcase prehistoric rock paintings, archaeological finds, and royal attire, providing an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
