Raja Bhoj Statue: Tribute to a Scholar-King

The Raja Bhoj Statue is a prominent landmark in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, honoring the legendary Raja Bhoj, who ruled during the 11th century. The statue is near the scenic Upper Lake, enhancing the visitor experience with a captivating atmosphere. Raja Bhoj was a Rajput king of the Parmar dynasty, ruling Malwa from 1010 to 1055 CE. He was not only a skilled warrior but also a scholar and patron of arts, science, Sanskrit, poetry, and astrology. He founded schools to promote the Sanskrit language and was a devotee of Lord Shiva. The statue, installed in 2011, stands approximately 32 feet (10 meters) above the base level and is made of gun and bell metal. Multicolored LED lights illuminate the statue, adding to its grandeur. The statue depicts Raja Bhoj in regal attire, seated on a throne with a sword in hand, reflecting his might and grace. The surrounding area features well-maintained gardens and parks, offering seating areas for visitors to relax and enjoy the views. Local food vendors provide traditional snacks and beverages.
