Rani Kamlapati Mahal, constructed in 1722 by Queen Kamlapati, the widow of Nizam Shah, is a historical palace that showcases a unique blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles. The palace is situated on the bridge connecting the Upper Lake and Lower Lake within Kamla Park in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It was built with Lakhauri bricks, featuring cusped arches supported by fluted pillars and lotus petal-shaped merlons. The palace holds significant historical importance as it was the residence of Rani Kamlapati, the last Hindu queen of Bhopal. She was known for her bravery and intelligence, playing a crucial role in defending her kingdom. According to history, the queen committed suicide by jumping into the lake in 1723. The palace was later taken over by Sardar Dost Mohammad, who built the Fatehgarh Fort on the western side. Today, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) maintains the site as a Monument of National Importance. Visitors can explore the two-storied structure, characterized by its maze of pillars and stairways leading to gardens and balconies that offer scenic views of the lakefront.
