Getting There

• Bus

  From Chennai Central, take bus number 19 or 19B towards Ayanavaram. Get down at Ayanavaram and transfer to bus number 58 or 58A towards Kottivakkam. You will then need to get down at the Kottivakkam bus stop. From there, take a bus heading towards Gummidipoondi. After reaching the Gummidipoondi bus stand, look for a bus that goes to Pulicat. It’s best to confirm with locals about the exact bus number as they may change. The journey will take approximately 2-3 hours depending on traffic. You will arrive at Pulicat village close to the lake.

• Train

  From Chennai Egmore Railway Station, board a train to Gummidipoondi. Check the local timetable for the exact train timings. The journey will take around 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Gummidipoondi station, exit the station and look for local transport options like auto-rickshaws or buses heading to Pulicat. The auto-rickshaw ride will take around 30 minutes to reach Pulicat Lake.

• Auto-rickshaw

  If you're already in a nearby locality like Thiruvottiyur, you can hire an auto-rickshaw to Pulicat Lake directly. The ride will take approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting the journey.

• Shared Taxi/Carpool

  At popular spots like Marina Beach or Mylapore, you can find shared taxis or carpools heading toward Pulicat. Speak to the drivers or local vendors to find the nearest shared taxi service. This may take about 1-2 hours depending on the number of stops and traffic.
