Discover more about Siri Fort Auditorium

Siri Fort Auditorium, located in the Siri Institutional Area of New Delhi, has been a central hub for India's artistic and cinematic expression for over four decades. Constructed in 1982 during the Asian Games, the complex comprises four auditoriums with a combined seating capacity of over 2,600. It is also the headquarters of the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF). Siri Fort itself has historical significance, with the city being established in 1303 by Alauddin Khilji as the second city of Delhi to defend against Mongol invasions. The name 'Siri' is believed to be derived from the heads of Mongol soldiers. Over the years, the auditorium has hosted numerous events, including film festivals, musical concerts, dance performances, and plays. It has welcomed leading national and international artists and served as a venue for important addresses, such as the one delivered by former US President Barack Obama in 2015. The complex is set to be redeveloped into a next-generation cultural and cinematic powerhouse, with plans for a Performance and Theatre District, an Indian Film & Media Hub, a Convention and Dialogue Forum, and an Arts and Culture Zone. The revamped facility will also include a Culinary Plaza, a Cultural Bazaar and Retail Zone, and an Immersive Heritage Gallery.
