    From Margao (Madgaon) Railway Station, hire a taxi to Palácio do Deão, approximately 14 km away. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Negotiate the fare beforehand, expect to pay around ₹500-₹800. Alternatively, taxis are available in Quepem. Tell the driver it is opposite the Holy Cross Church.

    From Margao KTC Bus Stand, take a bus towards Quepem. Get off near the Holy Cross Church. The Palácio do Deão is opposite the church. Bus fare is approximately ₹20-₹30. Buses may be crowded and the journey can take around 1-2 hours.

    If you are already in Quepem near the Holy Cross Church, Palácio do Deão is directly opposite the church. It's a short walk across the road. Look for the large traditional building with gardens.

Built in 1787 by José Paulo de Almeida, a Portuguese nobleman and the Dean of the Church, the Palácio stands as a testament to the blend of Hindu and Portuguese influences that define Goan architecture and lifestyle. The mansion, facing the Holy Cross Church, is situated on the banks of the Kushavati River. Its 11,000 sq ft floor plan showcases an unusual architectural style that fuses Hindu and Portuguese elements. The interiors are adorned with art, artifacts, and Indo-Portuguese furniture, offering visitors a glimpse into the life of Goan aristocracy. The property also features a library with a collection of books on Goan history, art, and theology. The Palácio's gardens are renowned as some of the most beautiful pleasure gardens in Goa. These gardens feature a pond, loggia, balustrades, vases, and stone ornaments. The belvedere provides a scenic spot to enjoy Indo-Portuguese cuisine while overlooking the Kushavati River. The current owners, Ruben and Celia Vasco da Gama, have lovingly restored the property and offer tours and meals to visitors. Visits are by reservation only, ensuring a personalized experience.
