Located in Fancy Bazaar, Guwahati, the Botanical Garden provides a green oasis in the heart of the city. Inaugurated in October 2023 on the site of the old central jail (established in 1881), the garden spans 11.77 acres and features over 230 sustainable botanical species and more than 85,000 plants.
The garden includes a yoga center, an amphitheater for events, ponds, and a memorial dedicated to the history of the Jail Road area. Visitors can explore a bamboo tunnel, a Bonsai garden, a Rose garden, and a Rock garden. The central plaza serves as a venue for small events, and a children's corner offers a play area for families. A tower provides elevated views of the garden.
