Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the main area of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek. Drive towards Srinagar, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. Follow the NH44 highway, which will lead you directly to the city. Once in Srinagar, navigate towards Shalimar Ghat. Use GPS coordinates 34.1418, 74.8616 to reach the Dal Lake viewpoint. There are parking facilities available near the viewpoint, but be prepared for a small parking fee.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, take a local bus or shared taxi from the nearest bus station in the Kashmir Great Lakes area heading towards Srinagar. Buses frequently run and the fare is around ₹50-₹100 per person. Once you arrive in Srinagar, you can take a local auto-rickshaw or taxi to Shalimar Ghat, which will cost approximately ₹200-₹300. Make sure to show the driver the destination address: Shalimar Ghat, Rainawari, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir 191121.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of the Dal Lake viewpoint, you can walk to the location from nearby areas. Follow local signboards toward Shalimar Ghat, as the area is well-marked. The walk will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your starting point. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
