Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Dal Lake from anywhere in Kashmir Valley, follow the main roads leading to Srinagar. From Gulmarg, take the NH 1A highway towards Srinagar. After approximately 50 kilometers, you will enter the city. Once in Srinagar, follow the signs to Boulevard Road, which is the road that runs alongside Dal Lake. There is parking available near the lake, but be prepared for possible parking fees ranging from INR 20 to INR 50, depending on the duration of your stay.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  To reach Dal Lake via public transport, find a local bus heading to Srinagar from your current location. Buses to Srinagar are frequent from towns like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg. The fare usually ranges between INR 50 to INR 200 depending on the distance. Upon arriving at the main bus terminal in Srinagar, you can either take a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw to Boulevard Road. The taxi fare to Dal Lake from the bus terminal is approximately INR 100 to INR 200.

• Taxi/Auto-Rickshaw

  If you are already in Srinagar, you can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to take you directly to Dal Lake. The fare for an auto-rickshaw should be around INR 50 to INR 100 from nearby areas, while a taxi may charge between INR 150 to INR 300 depending on your starting point in the city. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand if you're in a taxi.

• Walk

  For those staying in hotels or guesthouses near Dal Lake, walking can be a pleasant option. If you are in the Dalgate area, simply walk towards Boulevard Road, and you will find the lake within a few minutes. This is a great way to enjoy the local scenery and atmosphere.
