Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Srinagar. Head southeast on NH44 towards Anantnag. Continue on NH44 for approximately 55 km until you reach Anantnag town. From Anantnag, take the road towards Pahalgam, which is about 12 km away. When you arrive in Pahalgam, continue towards Aru Valley, and then follow the signs to HARNAG LAKE. The lake is located about 6 km from Aru Valley, and you may need to park your car and walk a short distance to reach the lake. Ensure to have a good map or GPS as the roads can be winding and narrow.

Public Transportation
To reach HARNAG LAKE via public transport, take a bus from Srinagar to Anantnag. Buses frequently depart from the TRC (Tourist Reception Center) in Srinagar, and the journey to Anantnag takes about 2 hours. From Anantnag, you can catch a shared taxi or another bus heading to Pahalgam. Once you reach Pahalgam, you can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw to take you to Aru Valley. After arriving in Aru Valley, you may need to walk the remaining 6 km to HARNAG LAKE, as public transport may not be available directly to the lake.
