Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, from anywhere in the Kerala Backwaters, head towards Kumarakom by following the main roads. Use the nearest town or city as your reference point. For example, if you're in Alleppey, take the NH66 towards Kumarakom. Upon reaching Kumarakom, look for signs that direct you to the backwaters, particularly towards Market Road. Once you reach Market Road, navigate to the address: JCM9+4FJ, Puthamkalam Building, Kavanattinkara, which is in the heart of Kumarakom. Ensure to have a GPS or map app for real-time navigation.

• Public Bus

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from major towns like Alleppey or Kottayam to Kumarakom. Buses frequently run from the Alleppey bus station to Kumarakom. Once you arrive at the Kumarakom bus stop, you can either walk or take a local auto-rickshaw to reach the backwaters area. The distance from the bus stop to the backwaters is approximately 2 km.   Once in Kumarakom, you can explore the backwaters more intimately by hiring a houseboat or a smaller boat. There are many operators available at the backwaters. Prices for houseboat rentals vary based on the type and duration of the trip; expect to pay anywhere from ₹5000 for a basic houseboat for a day.
