Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Gaonkhadi Beach.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're driving from Ratnagiri, head north on NH66. After approximately 20 km, turn left onto the R848 road towards Bhandarwadi. Continue on this road for about 15 km until you reach the village of Bhandarwadi. Look for signs directing you towards Gaonkhadi Beach, which is located just a short distance from the village center. Parking is available near the beach, but keep in mind that it may be limited during peak hours.
Public Transport (Bus)
From any major town in the Konkan Coast, such as Ratnagiri or Ganpatipule, take a local bus heading towards Bhandarwadi. Make sure to check the bus schedule, as services may be limited, especially on weekends. Once you arrive at the Bhandarwadi bus stop, the beach is about a 10-minute walk. Follow the main road towards the coastline, and look for signs indicating the path to Gaonkhadi Beach.
Auto-Rickshaw
For a quicker and more direct route from Bhandarwadi, you can hire an auto-rickshaw. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around ₹100-₹200 for a one-way trip to Gaonkhadi Beach. The ride will take about 10 minutes, and the drivers are usually familiar with the area.
Bike Rental
If you prefer to explore at your own pace, consider renting a bike in Ratnagiri or Ganpatipule. Once you have your bike, follow the same route as mentioned for cars. The ride is scenic and can take around 30-40 minutes. Make sure to wear a helmet and carry some cash for any tolls or parking fees.
