Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Take the NH 2 highway towards Zakhama. The distance is approximately 24 kilometers and will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you reach Zakhama, look for signs indicating the way to Dzükou Point. You can park your vehicle in Zakhama and begin your trek towards Dzükou Point.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from Kohima to Zakhama. The bus station in Kohima is located near the Old NST Bus Station. Buses and shared taxis frequently leave for Zakhama, and the fare is typically around INR 30-50. Upon arrival in Zakhama, you can hire a local guide or find a group to trek to Dzükou Point, as the trail may be confusing without guidance.
Trekking
After reaching Zakhama, the trek to Dzükou Point begins. It is advisable to hire a local guide, as the trail can be challenging. The trek is about 8 kilometers and takes roughly 3-4 hours to complete. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes, carry water, and snacks. The entry to Dzükou Valley may have a small fee (around INR 20-50) for maintenance, which you can pay at the trailhead.
