Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, the most common route to reach Umpliang Fall from Shillong (the capital of Meghalaya) is to take the NH6 towards Jowai. After approximately 56 kilometers, you will reach a junction at Jowai. Here, take the left turn onto the road heading towards Khliehriat. Continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach the village of Shkentalang. The fall is near the location marked at 85H2+62C, Shkentalang, Meghalaya 793150. Follow local signs to the fall, which is roughly 2 kilometers from the village center.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Umpliang Fall via public transportation, first take a shared taxi or bus from Shillong to Jowai. The fare typically ranges from INR 100-150 per person and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Jowai, you can find shared taxis heading towards Khliehriat. These taxis charge around INR 50-80 per person and take approximately 30 minutes. From the drop-off point in Khliehriat, you may need to hire a local taxi or a bike to reach Shkentalang village, where the fall is located. The final stretch will require local navigation, or you may ask for directions to the fall from locals in Shkentalang.

• Bike Rental

  For a more adventurous option, consider renting a bike in Shillong. Many rental shops offer bikes for around INR 500-800 per day. Follow the same route on NH6 to Jowai and then to Khliehriat. The ride is scenic but requires caution on the rural roads. Once you reach Shkentalang, you can park your bike and walk the remaining 2 kilometers to Umpliang Fall. Ensure you have a good map or GPS to help with navigation.
