Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Public Bus
From the central bus stand in Panaji, take a bus heading towards Margao. You will need to get off at the Chandor stop. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Chandor bus stop, head towards the main road, and follow the signs for Fort Area Salcette. Fernandes Heritage House is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. You will need to walk straight along the main road and take a left onto a smaller road that leads towards the house.
Auto Rickshaw
You can easily find an auto rickshaw from any popular location in Panaji, like the Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Just tell the driver to take you to Fernandes Heritage House in Chandor. The ride will take about 30 minutes, and the fare should be around 300-400 INR. Make sure to agree on the price before starting the journey.
Walking
If you are staying near the Mandovi River in Panaji, you can take a scenic walk to the bus station first, and then catch a bus to Chandor as described above. Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous and would like to explore the local area, you could walk to the bus station and then take public transport. However, please note that it is quite a distance, and I recommend using a combination of walking to the bus stop and then taking a bus or auto rickshaw.
