I hired a car with Driver for 5 days from Trichy, via Tanjore and Pondicherry before finishing in Mahabalipuram. All arrangements were simple and ran smoothly. The driver was excellent and gave me a lot of interesting background agriculture we drove through to sports and other conversations. I also had a dedicated specialist guide in Tanjore for a day, who spoke good English and provided a really good tour of the sights. From my experience I would highly recommend Cholan Tours.
