Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Coimbatore, take the NH181 highway towards Ooty. After approximately 80 km, follow the signs to Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. You will need to pay a toll fee of around INR 50 on this route. Once you reach the junction at Masinagudi, take the left turn towards the reserve, which is about 15 km away. Ensure your vehicle is ready for the winding roads.

• Bus

  From Coimbatore, you can take a direct bus to Ooty, which takes around 3 hours. Buses operate regularly from the Gandhipuram Bus Stand. The fare is generally around INR 150-250. Once in Ooty, you will need to catch a local bus to Mudumalai, which is about 50 km away. The local bus fare is approximately INR 30-50. Buses from Ooty to Mudumalai usually run every hour.

• Train

  If you prefer traveling by train, take a train from Coimbatore to Mettupalayam. The journey takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Mettupalayam, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Ooty. From Ooty, follow the instructions above to reach Mudumalai. The taxi fare from Mettupalayam to Ooty is around INR 600-800.

• Taxi

  For a more comfortable and flexible option, consider hiring a taxi from major cities like Coimbatore or Mysore. The journey from Coimbatore to Mudumalai will take around 3 hours and costs approximately INR 2500-3500. It is advisable to negotiate the fare in advance and ensure the driver knows the route well.
