Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the main Ghat area (like Dashashwamedh Ghat), walk towards the main road (Maharana Pratap Road). Once on Maharana Pratap Road, head east until you reach the intersection with Rajendra Prasad Road. Turn right onto Rajendra Prasad Road and continue straight. You will pass several shops and local eateries, and after about 1.5 km, you will reach the Varanasi Railway Station area. From there, follow the signs towards Banaras Hindu University (BHU). As you approach the university, keep an eye out for Semi Circle Road No. 3. The Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum is located opposite the Institute of Management Studies within BHU on this road.
Auto-rickshaw
From any location in Varanasi, you can hail an auto-rickshaw by waving your hand or using a ride-hailing app. Instruct the driver to take you to 'Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum' located within Banaras Hindu University. If the driver is unfamiliar, mention 'Semi Circle Road No. 3 Opp Institute of Mgmt Studies'. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Be sure to keep cash handy, as not all auto-rickshaws accept card payments.
Cycle Rickshaw
If you prefer a more traditional experience, you can hire a cycle rickshaw from any busy market area. Tell the rickshaw puller to take you to 'Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum' at Banaras Hindu University. Expect the journey to take around 20-30 minutes. It's a great way to enjoy the local scenery, but make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Local Bus
Find a local bus heading towards Banaras Hindu University. You can ask locals or check online for the nearest bus stop. Board the bus and request the driver to drop you off at the BHU stop. Once you get off, head towards Semi Circle Road No. 3, and you will find the Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum directly opposite the Institute of Management Studies.
