Walking
If you are starting from the Varanasi city center (near Dasaswamedh Ghat), head northeast towards the main road (Raja Ghat). Cross the river using the bridge. Once you are on the other side, continue walking straight until you reach the main road (Sarnath Road). Turn left onto Sarnath Road and follow the signs for Sarnath, which is about 10 kilometers away. You can expect to walk for around 2-3 hours, enjoying the local scenery along the way. Once you reach Sarnath, the Buddha Statue is located in the main park, easily visible upon entering the area.
Cycle Rickshaw
From the city center (Dasaswamedh Ghat), find a cycle rickshaw. Tell the driver you want to go to Sarnath (Buddha Statue). The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. They will take you directly to the statue, dropping you off near the entrance of the park where the statue is located.

The fare is typically very affordable, and the journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Sarnath, ask the driver to drop you off near the Buddha Statue; it is a well-known landmark.

Look for the nearest bus stop that has services to Sarnath. Board a bus heading to Sarnath, which should have a sign indicating its route. The journey may take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Once you arrive at the Sarnath bus stop, it is a short walk to the park where the Buddha Statue is located. Follow the signs, and you will find the statue within a few minutes.
