Auto-Rickshaw
If you are starting from the Varanasi city center, head to the nearest auto-rickshaw stand. You can find one near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple or Dashashwamedh Ghat. Tell the driver you want to go to 'Dhamekh Stupa in Sarnath.' The ride will take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver should take you directly to the Dhamekh Stupa, which is located on Dharmapala Road in Sarnath.
Cycle Rickshaw
For a leisurely and eco-friendly option, you can hire a cycle rickshaw from the city center. Make your way to the nearest busy street, such as Godowlia Chowk, and look for cycle rickshaw drivers waiting for passengers. Inform them that you want to go to 'Sarnath Dhamekh Stupa.' While this may take longer than an auto-rickshaw, it will give you a chance to enjoy the sights along the way. Expect the journey to take around 45 minutes.
Public Bus
If you prefer to use public transport, find out the nearest bus stop that serves routes to Sarnath. Buses heading towards Sarnath are available from major stops like the Varanasi Bus Station. Board a bus that displays 'Sarnath' on its front. The bus ride may take about 1 hour. Once you reach Sarnath, ask the conductor or locals for directions to the Dhamekh Stupa, as it is a well-known landmark.
Walking
If you are already in Sarnath, you can walk to the Dhamekh Stupa. From the Sarnath archaeological site entrance, walk straight along Dharmapala Road. After about 10-15 minutes on foot, you will see the Dhamekh Stupa on your left. Follow the signs that lead you to the stupa, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you walk.
