Public Transit
From downtown Gary, head to the nearest bus stop at 5th Avenue and Broadway. Take the Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC) bus route 8 towards 5th Avenue Station. After approximately 20 minutes, transfer to the South Shore Line train at the Gary Metro Center. Board the train heading towards Chicago. After about 40 minutes, disembark at the Millennium Station in Chicago. From there, catch the CTA bus number 151 or 156 towards Lincoln Park. Get off at the stop near Lincoln Park Zoo, and walk to 125 W Fullerton Pkwy; the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool will be on your right.

If you're feeling adventurous and wish to cycle, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing stations in Gary. Start your route by heading east on 4th Avenue towards the Lakefront. Follow the path along the Lake Michigan shoreline, which is approximately 5 miles. Once you reach the border of Chicago, continue following the bike path towards Lincoln Park. The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is located at 125 W Fullerton Pkwy, just a short ride from the park entrance.

If you're near the Gary Metro Center, you can take a scenic walk to the train station. From the Metro Center, walk south along Broadway to 4th Avenue. Continue walking east until you reach the shore of Lake Michigan. Follow the shoreline north, which will take you through the scenic areas of Gary and into Chicago, approximately 30-40 minutes on foot. Once in Lincoln Park, navigate towards 125 W Fullerton Pkwy, where the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is located. This is a longer walk, but you will experience the beautiful views along Lake Michigan.
