Bus
From downtown Gary, walk to the nearest bus stop at 5th Avenue and Broadway. Take the Gary Public Transit bus number 10 heading towards the South Shore Line. Get off at the South Shore Line station. From there, transfer to the South Shore Line train towards Chicago. Ride the train until you reach the Museum Campus/11th Street station. Once you arrive, walk east on 11th Street, then turn left onto South Michigan Avenue, and finally turn right onto East Grand Avenue. The Chicago Children's Museum will be on your left at 700 E Grand Ave.
Train
Head to the Gary Metro Center located at 100 W 4th Ave. Take the South Shore Line train towards Chicago. Ride the train until you reach the Museum Campus/11th Street station. Exit the train and walk east on 11th Street, then turn left onto South Michigan Avenue, and finally turn right onto East Grand Avenue. The Chicago Children's Museum will be on your left at 700 E Grand Ave.

If you are staying at the Hotel Gary located at 2001 Broadway, walk east on Broadway until you reach 5th Avenue. Turn left and continue walking north to the bus stop at 5th Avenue and Broadway. Take bus number 10 towards South Shore Line, get off at the South Shore Line station, and transfer to the South Shore Line train. Ride the train to the Museum Campus/11th Street station. From there, walk east on 11th Street, left onto South Michigan Avenue, and right onto East Grand Avenue. You will see the Chicago Children's Museum on your left at 700 E Grand Ave.
