Getting There

• Public Bus

  From downtown Gary, head to the bus stop located at Broadway & 5th Ave. Take the Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC) bus line 11 heading towards Southshore. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the South Shore Line station. Transfer to the South Shore Line train towards Chicago. After about 45 minutes, get off at the Millenium Station. From Millennium Park, walk to the nearby State Street bus stop and catch the #8 Halsted bus. Ride this bus for around 20 minutes until you reach the stop at 800 S Halsted St. The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum will be right across the street.

• Train

  Start at the Gary Metro Center. Purchase a ticket for the South Shore Line train to Chicago. Board the train heading towards Millennium Station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Millennium Station, exit the station and head towards the State Street bus stop. From there, take the #8 Halsted bus heading south. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at 800 S Halsted St. The museum will be directly in front of you.

• Walking

  If you are close to the Gary Metro Center, you can also walk to the nearby South Shore Line train station. Follow 5th Ave south towards Broadway, then take a left onto Broadway and continue until you reach the train station. From there, take the South Shore Line train to Millennium Station in Chicago. After your arrival, exit the train station, and walk to the State Street bus stop. Take the #8 Halsted bus south for about 20 minutes until you reach 800 S Halsted St, where the museum is located.
