From the Gary Public Transportation Corporation's main bus terminal at 100 W 5th Ave, take the Route 3 bus heading towards the South Shore Line. Ride the bus until you reach the South Shore train station. From there, board a train towards Chicago. Once you arrive at the Museum Campus/11th St station, transfer to the Red Line train towards Howard. Disembark at the Chicago State station, then transfer to the 66 Chicago Avenue bus. Get off at the stop at Chicago Ave & Michigan Ave, and walk east on Chicago Ave for about 5 minutes until you reach the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago at 220 E Chicago Ave.

Starting from the Gary Metro Center, take the South Shore Line train towards Millennium Station in Chicago. Once you arrive at Millennium Station, exit and walk to the State/Lake station. Take the Red Line train towards Howard and get off at Chicago Avenue. From the station, walk east on Chicago Ave for about 10 minutes until you reach 220 E Chicago Ave, where the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is located.
