    Getting There

    Public Bus

    From downtown Gary, walk to the nearest bus stop located at 5th Avenue and Broadway. Take the Gary Public Transportation Corporation bus route 17 heading towards the Chicago area. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes until you reach the 25th Avenue stop. From there, transfer to the PACE bus route 352 towards Old Town. After about 15 minutes, disembark at the Old Town stop.

    Train

    Head to the South Shore Line train station located at 1 N. Broadway Street. Purchase a ticket for the train heading towards Millennium Station in Chicago. The ride will take about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Millennium Station, exit the station and walk towards the 'State Street' exit. From there, take the CTA bus number 70 towards Old Town and get off at the Old Town stop.

    Bicycle Rental

    If you're up for a bit of exercise, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing services available in downtown Gary. Head north on Broadway Street, then turn right onto 21st Avenue. Follow it until you reach the Lakefront Trail, which you can take all the way to Chicago. Continue biking until you reach Old Town, approximately 15 miles away. It should take about 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace.
