If you are in downtown Gary, start by heading east on 5th Avenue until you reach Broadway. Turn left (north) onto Broadway and continue walking for about 1 mile until you reach 15th Avenue. Turn right (east) onto 15th Avenue and continue walking until you reach Lake Street. Once you reach Lake Street, turn left (north) and walk until you reach 860 N Lake St, where Lake Street Beach is located. It should take approximately 30-40 minutes to walk this route.

From downtown Gary, you can take the Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC) bus route 10. Board the bus at the nearest GPTC stop and inform the driver you are going to Lake Street Beach.
