If you're in Ubud, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops. Head northeast on Jalan Raya Ubud and follow the road for about 5 kilometers. As you approach Tampaksiring, you will see signs for Gunung Kawi. Turn left onto Jl. Gn. Kawi and follow it until you reach the entrance of the temple.

From Ubud, find the local bemo (minivan) terminal. Look for a bemo heading to Tampaksiring. The ride costs around Rp. 20,000 and takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the nearest stop to Gunung Kawi, and then walk about 1 kilometer following the signs toward Jl. Gn. Kawi.
