Car
If you are driving, start by navigating to Magelang Regency in Central Java. From the center of Magelang, head east on Jl. Jend. Sudirman towards Jl. Diponegoro. Continue on Jl. Jend. Sudirman for about 5 km until you reach the intersection with Jl. Raya Secang. Turn left onto Jl. Raya Secang and keep driving for about 15 km. Watch for signs directing you to Seloprojo and Ngablak. After about 15 minutes, turn left onto a small road leading to Seloprojo. Follow the local road signs for Air Terjun Sumuran. You will arrive at J9QJ+C5M, Seloprojo, Kec. Ngablak, where the waterfall is located. Parking is available near the entrance, but may incur a small fee depending on the local regulations.
Public Transportation
To reach Air Terjun Sumuran via public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location to Magelang. Buses to Magelang are available from major cities like Yogyakarta or Semarang and typically cost between IDR 30,000 to IDR 50,000. Upon arriving in Magelang, take a local minibus or angkot (public van) heading to Ngablak. The fare for this ride should be around IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000. Once in Ngablak, you may need to hire a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to reach Seloprojo and the waterfall's entrance. The ojek fare might cost around IDR 15,000 to IDR 25,000. Be sure to confirm the price before starting your ride. The total journey may take a few hours depending on waiting times and traffic.
Combination (Car and Walk)
For those who have access to a car but prefer to minimize driving, you can park at a nearby village before reaching Seloprojo. After parking, you can walk the remaining distance of about 1 to 2 kilometers along a scenic path to the waterfall. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven and may include some hills. The walk should take approximately 30 minutes and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
