Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. Head south on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman towards Jalan Gatot Subroto. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Jalan Medan - Binjai. Take the exit onto Jalan Medan - Binjai and follow it for approximately 20 kilometers. After reaching Deli Serdang, follow signs for Sibolangit. You will merge onto Jalan Lintas Sumatra (Sumatra Highway) heading towards Sibolangit. From there, take a left turn onto Jalan Sibolangit. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers until you arrive at the entrance to Air Terjun Sampuren Putih, located at 7J82+W6F, Negri Gugung, Sibolangit. There is usually no entry fee required for the waterfall area.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin your journey by taking a minibus (also known as 'angkot') from Medan to Sibolangit. These minibuses frequently depart from various points around Medan, including Terminal Amplas. The fare is generally inexpensive, around IDR 20,000 to IDR 30,000 per person. Once in Sibolangit, you will need to hire a local ojek (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the Air Terjun Sampuren Putih. The ojek ride will cost you approximately IDR 20,000 to IDR 25,000. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your ride. The waterfall is about a 30-minute drive from the center of Sibolangit.
