Car
If you're driving from Medan, take the Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Sumatra Highway) southbound. Continue on this road for about 3 hours (approximately 120 km) until you reach the town of Pematang Siantar. From there, take the road towards Simalungun Regency, following the signs for Sipolha Horison. Bukit Sipolha will be located on your left after approximately 30 minutes of driving. The road is paved, but be cautious of local traffic and animals crossing the road.
Public Transportation
To reach Bukit Sipolha by public transport, first, take a bus from Medan to Pematang Siantar. Buses leave from the Amplas Bus Terminal and the journey takes about 3 hours, costing around IDR 50,000. Upon arrival in Pematang Siantar, you can hire a local taxi or ask about shared transport options to get to Bukit Sipolha in Sipolha Horison. This additional ride will take about 30 minutes and may cost around IDR 30,000 to 50,000 depending on the negotiation.
Motorbike Rental
For a more adventurous option, consider renting a motorbike in Medan. Head south on the Jalan Lintas Sumatera towards Pematang Siantar. The ride will take around 3 hours. Once in Pematang Siantar, continue towards Sipolha Horison, where Bukit Sipolha is located. This option gives you flexibility, but be prepared for the local traffic conditions. Rental costs are typically around IDR 80,000 per day, plus fuel.
