If you are driving from Medan, head south on Jl. Gatot Subroto toward Jl. Dr. Mansyur. Continue on Jl. Gatot Subroto until you reach the intersection with Jl. Sisingamangaraja. Turn left onto Jl. Sisingamangaraja. Follow this road for about 50 km until you reach the town of Berastagi. From Berastagi, take Jl. Raya Berastagi and drive approximately 25 km toward Merek. Look for signs to Pangambatan. Once you arrive in Pangambatan, follow local signs to Sapo Juma, which is located just outside of the town. Be prepared for some winding roads and allow for extra travel time.
Public Transportation
To reach Sapo Juma by public transportation from Medan, take a bus from the Amplas Bus Terminal to Berastagi. The bus journey takes about 2-3 hours and costs around IDR 30,000 to IDR 50,000. Once in Berastagi, you can find local minivans (angkot) heading to Merek. Take one of these vans, which will cost around IDR 15,000, and inform the driver that you want to get off at Pangambatan. Upon arrival in Pangambatan, you may need to walk or hire a local ojek (motorbike taxi) to get to Sapo Juma, which should not cost more than IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000.
Combination of Car and Ojek
For those who prefer a combination of transportation, you can rent a car with a driver in Medan. The cost for a day rental is typically around IDR 600,000 to IDR 800,000, including fuel. Drive to Berastagi, and from there, hire an ojek to take you to Sapo Juma. This option allows for more flexibility in your schedule and the opportunity to explore Berastagi along the way.
