Car Rental
If you're starting in Medan, rent a car and head towards Samosir Regency. Take the Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Sumatra Highway) southbound. After about 3.5 hours (approximately 170 km), you will reach Parapat. From Parapat, take the ferry to Samosir Island, which costs around IDR 15,000 to IDR 30,000 per person. Once on Samosir, drive towards Ronggur Nihuta. The waterfall is located approximately 30 km from the ferry terminal. Follow the signs to Simangande Waterfall.
Public Transportation
From Medan, take a bus to Parapat at the terminal near Amplas. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours and costs around IDR 60,000. Once in Parapat, you can take a ferry to Samosir Island. After arriving at Samosir, you can hire a local taxi or ojek (motorbike taxi) to take you to Simangande Waterfall, which is around 30 km away and may cost you approximately IDR 100,000.
