Efrata Waterfall: Nature's Majestic Cascade in North Sumatra

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra. Head south on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, which will eventually turn into Jalan Raya Medan - Tanjung Morawa. Continue on this road for about 30 km until you reach the intersection with Jalan Raya Lintas Sumatera. Turn right onto this road and follow the signs towards Samosir Island. After approximately 150 km, you will arrive at the town of Parapat on the shores of Lake Toba. From Parapat, drive towards Samosir Island by taking the ferry from the Parapat Ferry Terminal (ferry costs around IDR 10,000 per person). Once on Samosir Island, continue driving towards Sosor Dolok. Follow the GPS coordinates GJPV+QX4 on your navigation app to reach Efrata Waterfall, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the ferry terminal.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus or minivan from Medan to Parapat. The journey takes about 4-5 hours and costs around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000. Once you arrive in Parapat, you can find local transport services or rent a motorcycle to reach the Parapat Ferry Terminal. Take the ferry to Samosir Island (IDR 10,000 per person). After disembarking, you can hire an ojek (motorcycle taxi) or use a rented motorcycle to get to Sosor Dolok. Make sure to provide the GPS coordinates GJPV+QX4 to the driver to reach Efrata Waterfall.

• Taxi or Ride-hailing Service

  If you're in Medan and prefer a more direct route, consider using a taxi or a ride-hailing service like Gojek or Grab. Simply input the destination using the coordinates GJPV+QX4. The journey will take approximately 5-6 hours and might cost around IDR 500,000 to IDR 800,000, depending on traffic conditions. This option provides convenience and allows for flexibility along the way.
