Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Tanjung Pinang, the capital of the Riau Islands. Head southeast on Jl. Raya Tanjung Pinang towards Jl. DI Pandjaitan. Continue straight for about 12 km until you reach the junction with Jl. Bintan. Take the right turn onto Jl. Bintan and follow the signs for Gunung Kijang. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at Gunung Kijang. Use GPS coordinates (1.0727783, 104.6436948) to guide you to Bintan Blue Coral, which is located at 3JFV+4F8, Teluk Bakau.
Public Transport
To reach Bintan Blue Coral using public transportation, take a taxi or a ride-hailing service from Tanjung Pinang to the Gunung Kijang area. The fare will vary but expect to pay around IDR 200,000 to IDR 300,000. Once in Gunung Kijang, you may need to rent a motorbike or take a local angkot (public minibus) to Teluk Bakau. Make sure to communicate your destination clearly, as not all drivers may be familiar with Bintan Blue Coral. The total travel time may take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic.
Combination of Car and Boat
For an adventurous route, consider driving to a nearby coastal area and taking a boat to Bintan Blue Coral. Start from Tanjung Pinang and head towards the nearest port (like the Tanjung Pinang Ferry Terminal). From there, you can take a boat to the nearest jetty in the Gunung Kijang area. You may need to negotiate with boat operators for a ride, which can cost around IDR 150,000 to IDR 250,000. After arriving at the jetty, you can hire a local transport service or walk to Bintan Blue Coral, which is a short distance away.
