If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Jayapura, the capital of South Papua. Head west on the Trans Papua highway towards Merauke. Follow the signs to cross into Central Java via the nearest airport, Adi Sucipto International Airport in Yogyakarta. From Yogyakarta, take the Jl. Magelang road heading north to reach Borobudur Temple. The distance from Yogyakarta to Borobudur is approximately 42 km, which typically takes about 1 hour by car. Once you reach Borobudur, you will find parking facilities near the entrance.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transport, take a local bus from Jayapura to Yogyakarta. This journey can take several hours and requires transfers at major bus stations. After arriving in Yogyakarta, you can catch a bus from the Yogyakarta bus terminal to Borobudur. The bus ride will take around 1-2 hours, depending on traffic. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary. Once you arrive at the Borobudur bus terminal, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the temple entrance.

This option may cost more than public transportation but is more convenient, especially if you are traveling with a group.
