Getting There

• Car

  If you are starting from Makassar, drive east on Jalan Jend. Sudirman towards Jalan Ahmad Yani. Continue driving for approximately 8 km until you reach the junction to take Route 3. Follow Route 3 for about 150 km until you reach Bau-Bau City in South East Sulawesi. After arriving in Bau-Bau, navigate towards the harbor where you can find boats that travel to Pulau Makassar. Expect to pay around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 for the boat ride.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Makassar, catch a bus heading to Bau-Bau. Buses are available at the terminal in Makassar and the fare ranges from IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000. The journey typically takes about 6-8 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Bau-Bau, head to the harbor. There, you can purchase a ticket for a boat to Pulau Makassar, which will cost you between IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000.

  Once in Bau-Bau City, locate the harbor where boats to Pulau Makassar are available. The boat ride typically takes about 30-45 minutes. Make sure to check the boat schedule as they may vary, and it’s best to arrive early to secure a spot. You may need to wait for the boat to fill up before departure.
