Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From Yogyakarta city center, head to the Giwangan Bus Terminal. Take an executive bus heading towards Wonosari. The journey typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Wonosari, ask the bus staff to drop you off at the nearest stop to the Playen sub-district. From there, you will need to take a local angkot (minibus) heading to Playen. Inform the driver that you want to go to Kebosungu. The angkot ride will take about 30 minutes. After reaching Kebosungu, you can ask locals for directions to Sungai Oya, which is not far from the angkot stop.

  • Bicycle Rental

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Yogyakarta. Start your journey heading southeast towards the Jl. Godean area, which leads out of the city. Follow the road signs towards Wonosari. The distance is approximately 30 kilometers and could take around 2 to 3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Once you reach Wonosari, follow the same instructions as above to take an angkot to Kebosungu. Remember to carry water and snacks for the ride.

It's approximately a 30-kilometer ride, which takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you reach Wonosari, follow the signs to Playen. In Playen, ask locals for directions to Kebosungu. Sungai Oya is a short ride further into Kebosungu. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules.
