If you're starting from downtown Newton, head southeast on E 4th St toward S 2nd Ave. Continue straight until you reach S 2nd Ave, then turn left. Walk for about 5 minutes, going past local shops and restaurants. When you reach E 10th St, turn right and walk straight for another 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with E 1st St. Turn left onto E 1st St and continue for about 5 minutes. You will see a sign for the Salem Athenaeum on your right at 337 Essex St.
