If you're starting from downtown Newton, head southeast on E 4th St toward S 2nd Ave. Continue straight until you reach S 2nd Ave, then turn left. Walk for about 5 minutes, going past local shops and restaurants. When you reach E 10th St, turn right and walk straight for another 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with E 1st St. Turn left onto E 1st St and continue for about 5 minutes. You will see a sign for the Salem Athenaeum on your right at 337 Essex St.

From the nearest bus stop at the Newton Central Station, board the bus heading towards Salem. After approximately 30 minutes, disembark at the stop closest to Essex St. Walk east on Essex St for about 5 minutes. The Salem Athenaeum will be on your left at 337 Essex St.

If you prefer biking, rent a bike at one of the local rental stations. Start from downtown Newton and head south on S 2nd Ave. After about 5 minutes of biking, turn right onto E 10th St. Continue straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with E 1st St. Turn left onto E 1st St and bike for another 5 minutes.
