Originally a roller skating rink called Skate Castle, the building was transformed in 2018 into Baqara Coliseum and later rebranded as The Thunderdome. This transformation brought a unique space to Newton, hosting a variety of events from weddings and brunches to corporate outings and sporting activities like axe throwing and cornhole.The venue boasted a large event space with a capacity of 1,000 people, a top-of-the-line sound system, a catering prep kitchen, a full bar and restaurant area, and even a floral shop. The Thunderdome aimed to be a cornerstone of the community, providing a space for making memories and celebrating special occasions. While it closed its doors in June 2024, it remains a notable part of Newton's recent history.
