Driving
Pilot Knob State Park is located a few miles east of Forest City, Iowa. From Forest City, head east on Highway 9 for approximately 3 miles. Turn south onto 205th Avenue and drive 1 mile to the park entrance. Parking is available near the main attractions, including the Observation Tower and Dead Man's Lake. Parking is free.

From the Pilot Knob State Park Campground, the Observation Tower is accessible via a network of trails. Follow the signs for the Tower Trail, a short but moderately steep hike to the summit. The walk is approximately 0.2 miles and offers scenic views along the way. No fees are required for accessing the trails.
