Start your journey at Athlone Train Station. Exit the station and head southeast on Station Road towards the River Shannon. Continue straight until you reach the riverbank. Turn left and follow the riverbank path north until you reach the Athlone Town Bridge. Cross the bridge, and once on the other side, continue straight on the Main Street. After about 1 km, you'll reach the junction with the N4 road. Here, turn left and head towards Longford. Keep walking along the N4 for approximately 5 km until you reach the town of Longford. Upon entering Longford, look out for signs directing you to the Royal Canal Greenway. Follow the signs, and you will find the entrance to the Greenway at Royal Canal Greenway, Longford Town.

Public Transport (Bus)
From Athlone, head to the main bus station located in the town center. Catch a bus heading to Longford. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Longford, disembark at the Longford Bus Station. From the bus station, walk towards the Royal Canal Greenway; follow the signs leading you to the Greenway located at Royal Canal Greenway, Longford Town.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Athlone. Start from your rental shop and head towards the banks of the River Shannon. Cycle along the riverbank until you reach the Athlone Town Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto the N4 road. Follow the N4 for approximately 5 km until you reach Longford. Look for signs directing you to the Royal Canal Greenway as you enter Longford. The Greenway entrance can be found at Royal Canal Greenway, Longford Town.
