Discover more about The Ferryman

The Ferryman Townhouse, situated on the historic Sir John Rogerson's Quay in Dublin's Grand Canal Dock, offers visitors a unique blend of old-world charm and modern convenience. This family-run establishment occupies two meticulously restored Georgian buildings that date back to the 1780s. Lord Cardiff, who also lent his name to the adjacent lane, originally constructed the buildings. In its early days, The Ferryman was a hub of activity for dockworkers, with the Liffey Ferry transporting workers from the north to the south side of the river. They worked in the Gasometer, the Banana Factory, and Dublin's shipbuilding yard. The pub served as a gathering place where dockers were hired and spent their earnings. Even as recently as the mid-1980s, Guinness boats sailed past The Ferryman, carrying barrels of the famous brew. Today, The Ferryman features a traditional Irish pub with a warm atmosphere, an extensive whiskey menu, and often live music. The hotel provides comfortable and well-equipped rooms, many with views of the River Liffey. Its location is ideal for exploring Dublin, with attractions like the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, the Convention Centre Dublin, and the Samuel Beckett Bridge just a short walk away.
