After approximately 10 kilometers, turn left onto the R315 towards Aghagower. Continue for about 6 kilometers, then turn right onto the R315. Follow this road, passing through the village of Aghagower, until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit to continue on the N59. After about 5 kilometers, turn left onto the Burishoole Road (look for signs for Burrishoole Abbey). The abbey will be a short drive down this road. There is free parking available near the site.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Castlebar or Westport to Newport. Bus Eireann operates regular services between these towns. Once you arrive in Newport, you can take a local taxi to Burrishoole Abbey, which is about 7 kilometers away. Alternatively, check if there are any local shuttle services heading towards Burrishoole. Be sure to confirm the schedule in advance, as services may vary. Expect to pay around €10-€15 for a taxi ride from Newport to the abbey.

If you find yourself staying nearby in Aghagower, you can walk to Burrishoole Abbey. The distance is about 4 kilometers, which should take roughly 50 minutes. Start by heading northeast from Aghagower village towards the N59 road. Once you reach the N59, turn left and follow the road until you reach the Burishoole Road. Turn right onto Burishoole Road, and you will find the abbey further down the road. Wear comfortable shoes as the terrain may be uneven.
