The Stags Head Travel Guide

In the early 1890s, Westmoreland merchant George Tyson commissioned architect J.M. McGloughlin to create a distinctive Victorian pub, which opened in May 1894.The pub's design features a redbrick exterior with limestone and granite details. Inside, patrons are surrounded by stag-themed stained glass windows, mirrors, and wood paneling. A large stag's head adorns the main bar, and Tyson's name remains on the clock outside. The Stags Head has been featured in films like "Educating Rita" and "The Treaty," and it continues to be a popular spot for both locals and tourists.The pub has multiple floors, with bars on each level. It's known for its hospitality, traditional Irish music, and a good pint of Guinness. The Stags Head also serves Irish food and hosts comedy nights.
