Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Kildare town, head southwest on the N7 motorway. After approximately 10 km, take exit 12 towards the R413, signposted for Kilcock. Continue on the R413 for about 5 km, then turn left onto the L1002 (Cloona road). Follow this road for another 2 km until you reach the Dunfierth Chapel Ruins, which will be on your right. There is limited parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  From Kildare train station, take the train towards Dublin and get off at Kilcock station. From Kilcock, you can take a local taxi to Dunfierth Chapel Ruins, which is approximately 7 km away. Alternatively, check local bus services that may operate on the R413 route towards Cloona, but confirm the schedule in advance as it may be limited. The taxi fare from Kilcock to the ruins will likely be around €15-€20.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Kildare town and take the N7 towards Kilcock. After about 10 km, exit onto the R413, then take a left onto the L1002. It's approximately a 20 km ride from Kildare town to Dunfierth Chapel Ruins. Ensure to wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic on the roads.

• Walking

  For those adventurous enough to walk, start from Kildare town and follow the N7 towards Kilcock. However, the distance is considerable (about 15 km) and should only be attempted by those in good physical condition. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and check the weather before embarking on this journey. The route involves walking along roadside paths, so exercise caution.
