Car
If you're traveling by car, make your way to the N5 road, which is a primary route in County Mayo. From Castlebar, head west on the N5 towards Westport. After about 10 km, take the exit for the R310 towards Ballylahan. Follow the R310 for approximately 5 km, and you will see signs for Ballylahan Castle. The castle is located just off the R310, and there is a small parking area nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Ballylahan Castle via public transport, first, take a bus to Castlebar, which has several services from various locations in County Mayo. Once you arrive in Castlebar, you can take a taxi or local bus service towards Ballylahan. Be sure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as services may be limited. The taxi ride from Castlebar to Ballylahan will take approximately 15-20 minutes and may cost around €15-€20.
Walking
If you're already in Ballylahan village, you can easily walk to the castle. From the village center, head southwest following the signs for Ballylahan Castle. The distance is about 2 km and should take around 25-30 minutes on foot. The path is relatively straightforward, but be cautious of traffic along the R310.
