Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Tipperary, which is approximately 12 km away from Shrough Passage Tomb. Head west on the N24 road towards Limerick. After about 5 km, take the exit for the R497 towards Bansha. Continue on the R497 for about 6 km until you reach the village of Bansha. From there, take the R664 towards Cahir and then turn onto the R665. Follow this road until you see signs for Shrough. The passage tomb is located near the village of Shrough, at the coordinates 52.4288° N, 8.2320° W. There is no entry fee for visiting the tomb.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Tipperary town to Bansha. Check local schedules for bus services such as Bus Éireann. Once you arrive in Bansha, you may need to arrange a taxi to take you the remaining distance to Shrough Passage Tomb, which is about 6 km away. Taxi services can usually be booked in advance or found at local taxi stands.
Walking
For those who enjoy hiking, if you are staying in Bansha, you can walk to Shrough Passage Tomb from the village. The walk is approximately 6 km along country roads. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water, especially on warmer days. Follow the R664 and then take the local paths that lead towards the coordinates 52.4288° N, 8.2320° W. It’s advisable to have a map or GPS device as some paths may not be clearly marked.
