Start from the centre of Dingle town. Head towards the Dingle Harbour, and as you walk along the waterfront, look for signs directing you towards the Valentia Island ferry. Continue walking until you reach the ferry terminal, which is located at the end of the harbor area. Board the ferry, which will take you across to Valentia Island. Once you arrive at the island, follow the signs to the main road, and then take a left onto the N70. Continue on the N70, watching for signs that direct you to Slate and the Quarry Road. After approximately 5 kilometers, you will reach the entrance to Slate Quarry Road, where The Grotto is located.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Dingle. Start at the centre of Dingle town and head towards the harbor. Follow the same route as for walking, heading to the ferry terminal. After taking the ferry to Valentia Island, cycle along the N70 road.
