Getting There

• Car

  If you are in Killarney National Park and want to drive to Killarney City, start by heading towards the N71 road. From the park, follow the signs to the N71 which should take you south towards Killarney. As you approach the city, you'll see signs for 'Killarney Town Centre'. Continue straight until you reach the town center, where you can find various attractions, shops, and restaurants. Parking is available in several public car parks around the town, but be aware there may be a small fee for parking.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Killarney National Park, you can take a local bus to Killarney City. Look for the bus stop near the park entrance. The bus service is operated by Kerry County Council, and it typically runs every 30 minutes. Make sure to check the schedule for the latest times. The fare is approximately €2-€5 depending on your exact starting point within the park. The bus will take you directly to Killarney City, and the journey usually takes around 15-20 minutes.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and the weather is nice, you can walk from certain areas of Killarney National Park to Killarney City. For example, if you are starting from the Muckross House area, follow the paths leading towards the N71 road. It’s roughly a 5 km (3.1 miles) walk which will take about 1-1.5 hours. As you walk, enjoy the scenic views of the park, and be sure to follow any walking trail signs to ensure you stay on track.

• Bicycle

  Another option is to rent a bicycle from any of the rental services near Killarney National Park. Once you have your bike, you can cycle to Killarney City. The roads are generally safe for cycling, and it’s about 4 km (2.5 miles) to the city center. This journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. There are designated bike lanes in some areas, and you can lock up your bike in the city to explore on foot.
