Car

If you are driving, start from the town of Killarney. Head southwest on the N71 towards Kenmare. Continue on this road for about 5.5 km until you reach the entrance of Killarney National Park. Follow the signs towards Muckross House and Gardens. After passing Muckross House, take the first right turn on the path towards Upper Lake Killarney. There is limited parking available near the lake, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot.

From Killarney town center, catch the 40 or 40A bus heading towards Kenmare. Request to stop at the entrance of Killarney National Park. From there, you can either walk or rent a bike to reach Upper Lake Killarney. The walk is approximately 4 km along the scenic paths of the park. If you're already within Killarney National Park, you can hike to Upper Lake Killarney. From Muckross House, take the marked walking trail that leads towards the Upper Lake.
