From Killarney, take the N71 road towards Kenmare. After approximately 6 km, you will reach a roundabout. Take the second exit to continue on the N71. After another 4 km, you will come to the entrance of Killarney National Park. Once inside, follow the signs for the Upper Lake. Continue on the park road for about 3 km, and you will find the Upper Lake parking area on your right. Be mindful that there may be a parking fee, typically around €5 for the day.

From Killarney town center, you can take a local bus service that operates to Killarney National Park. Look for the bus service number 40 or 41, which heads towards Muckross House. Get off at the stop nearest to the park entrance. From there, follow the walking paths towards Upper Lake, which is approximately a 30-minute walk (around 2 km) from the Muckross House area. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary.
